These days, you can’t have a sensible discussion about the most skilled deejays in drum ‘n’ bass without mentioning DJ Blackley. The hundreds of thousands of views he chalks up on his pioneering POV six-deck showcase videos and his well-earned 2018 Breakthrough DJ Award testify to that.
Blackley is more than just a deejay though. As founder of the multi-tentacled Cre8DnB brand, he’s responsible for creating a label, a continent-spanning promotion outfit, an online radio station and a successful ‘Dub Club’ subscription service. Across almost every aspect of the industry, he’s studied, paid his dues and achieved the holy grail of turning a passion into his profession.
Constantly innovating, not only is Blackley currently the only solo deejay playing six-deck sets live in raves, he recently smashed his own (already crazy) world record by mixing three-hundred and twenty tracks in an hour. In case it wasn’t clear by now, when it comes to pure deejaying chops, Blackley’s got it covered.
And, over the last few years, we’ve been treated to more and more of Blackley’s production work. Tunes on Random Concept Digital, Subway Soundz and his own Cre8DnBMusic imprint have seen him garner support from heavyweights like Noisia, René LaVice, Dillinja and Phantasy as well as national airplay on BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra.
Blackley’s skills have already taken him across Europe, with prestige bookings at events like Rampage, NASS, Warning and Let it Roll. Now, having joined the Urban Agency roster, the story of Blackley’s meteoric rise through the ranks is about to get another chapter.
