It’s in the name: DJ Pleasure loves what he does. Dedicated to the jungle cause since he first picked up DJ Hype’s ‘Roll The Beats’, the North London artist has achieved an impeccable status in every aspect of global drum & bass: a DJ, a producer, a label owner… Pleasure’s reputation is respected in all corners of the game.
His name was actually a happy accident. Invited to trial on London pirate station Jive FM just after a month of investing in decks, he quickly picked his tag en route to the station studio. Damaging the airwaves from his first selection, it marked a decade long radio career that stretched from Jive to the legendary Kool FM via the similarly revered Freeze FM. Naturally the name stuck.
Broadening his reputation from broadcasting, Pleasure’s ascension up the club ranks was equally rapid. From massive raves on his home turf such as One Nation and Slamming Vinyl he soon stretched his skills around Europe, representing his unique blend at Innovation In The Dam, Innovation In The Sun and regular bookings across the globe: Germany, Austria, Russia, USA, Canada… Each show delivered with uncompromising, attitude-free professionalism, ensuring repeat bookings on every occasion.
Naturally his role as producer mirrors his meteoric rise as a selector. Given a copy of Reason by none other than Will from Chase & Status, Pleasure immediately quit his job in IT and immersed himself in the intricacies of studio science. He debuted on Logan D’s well-respected Low Down Deep imprint in 2007 and built up an impressive discography, repping hard on legendary imprints such as Muzik Hertz, Calypso Muzak, Co-Lab Recordings, Smokin’ Riddims, Stereotype and his own imprint Killer Bytes, a brand that’s demonstrated boldness and clarity since its first release in 2010. Originally a platform for his and Origin’s own creations, Killer Bytes is now developing into an exciting nurturing ground for brand new talent.
With a sound that’s altogether muscular, mischievous, funky and wholly unpredictable, Pleasure productions score regular rotation from the very biggest DJs in the game. In 2013 he took things next level with the cheeky, glitch-gravelled smasher ‘Popcorn’, a track that came with a full money-back reload guarantee, it quickly developed cult status as one of the essential tunes of the year. A bona fide sign of the times, Pleasure now surges forward into the future with major releases scheduled on Playaz, Killer Bytes and many more.
Dedicated since day one and developing with serious intent: Whether you catch him on wax, on the stage or behind the scenes at Killer Bytes, know this… DJ Pleasure loves what he does.
